The CB 500 four

The CB 500 four

When Honda launched the CB 750 in 1969, little did they know how great success that would be. The four cylinder engine was so smooth compared to other manufacturers and the bike was loaded with new technology. Based on these facts, the Honda CB 500 was developed to satisfy those who wanted a bit smaller bike.

The CB 500 was produced from 1971 to 1973 and was a great success as well. The market expected a bit more similarity to the CB 750, but the design was different. The bike was a bit lower, less weight and more power/ccm than the CB 750. With these facts, the MC journalists and testers claimed the CB 500 to have even better riding qualitites than the CB 750!

The model was delievered in these colours:

1971: Candy Starlight Gold, Candy Jade Green, Candy Garnet Brown
1972: Candy Gold, Candy Jade Green, Candy Garnet Brown
1973: Candy Bacchus Olive Green, Flake Sunrise Orange, Maxim Brown Metalic

The most popular coulurs were the Candy Gold and the Candy Bacchus Olive.
